Pentax K7 Review

The feature-rich Pentax K-7 Digital SLR Camera ushers in next-generation engineering to the tried-and-true, world-renowned class of Pentax SLRs. Sure to fit in every Pentax K mount lens, the sturdy magnesium alloy body contains a state-of-the-art 14.6 megapixel CMOS sensor to allow vibrant color, sharper contrast and highest excellence in image quality.

The K-7’s PRIME II processor allows quick burst shooting at 5.2 frames per second which is ideal for high-speed sports, wildlife and adventure photography. Beefed up with Advanced Shake Reduction Technology and the 11-point SAFOX VIII+ Autofocus System, the K-7 gives you sharp pictures even in low light conditions.

High Definition video capture, one of the most prized Digital SLR camera features, is included in the Pentax K-7 system. The 1024p and 720p video glides at 30 fps with point-and-shoot ease. HDMI connectivity makes photo and video sharing on HDTV just a plug-in away.

An integrated monaural microphone allows you to record synchronous audio with video, and a 3.5mm stereo input provides better sound quality for professional use. The K-7 DSLR uses an energy-efficient, low-heat 14.6 megapixel CMOS Image Sensor with reduced image noise and longer battery duration.

Lightweight yet sturdily-built, the K-7 weather-tough, dust-resistant and can operate in extreme conditions. Its stainless steel chassis offers a durable, protective frame while its magnesium alloy casing prevents outside interference to ensure uniform signal processing for vivid images.

The K-7 can use all of Pentax’s 25 million lenses made over the last half century and is backward compatible with K, KA, KAF and KAF2 mount lenses and screw-mount 35mm lenses as well as Pentax 645 and 67 lenses using optional adapters.

The K-7 has an electromagnetically controlled stabilizer, the Pentax Shake Reduction (SR) System, integrated into the body to guarantee shake-free photos, even with telephoto lenses. Unlike conventional stabilization systems, Pentax Shake Reduction adjusts to movements from three directions – vertical, horizontal and rotational.

By sensing hand-held camera shake, sharpness is greatly compensated even when using telephoto lenses, shooting under low lighting, or in any situation where camera shake can ruin a shot.

The K-7 is the first Pentax DSLR to boast of full Hi-Def recording capability. The 1024p or 720p videos are recorded at fluid 30 fps with audio. An external microphone attachment and wireless receiver feature makes pro audio recording a possibility. Full Hi-Def playback on any HDTV is easy with the use of an HDMI cable.

Live View mode, with SAFOX VIII+ Autofocus System and Face Detection, allows you to compose your images quickly without sticking your eye on the viewfinder. K-7’s built-in Electronic Level Indicator allows for quick and easy detection of the perfect horizon. It is an essential tool for tripod and hand-held photography from up-close portraiture to wide vista shots.

Both new and old-time Pentax camera users will surely appreciate the new technology that other brands are still struggling hard at as well as proven features that photo buffs want and need.
