The Canon EOS 450D was Canon's chief entry during the PMA show in Las Vegas last year and Canon's fourth entry-level DSLR, launched immediately after the EOS 300D that set the photography world on fire due to its unbelievable price breakthrough. Within a short period of five years, which is the equivalent of five decades in the world of digital photography, a lot of changes have taken place.
It is not only the camera that has changed. The number of people who have converted to the DSLR has grown enormously. You may sometimes feel that you’ve been living under a rock if you don’t start using Digital Single Lens Reflex equipment. Canon has truly created tsunami waves in the market with the introduction of the EOS 300D, which also captured the amateur market. After Canon’s triumphant launch of the EOS 300D, other types launched there after have been equally successful.
The latest Canon Digital SLR is called the EOS 450D, and is currently being marketed along with the 400D. At first glance, the cameras look like identical twins. Canon has retained all the good features of the 400D while adding new ones to the 450D. As might be expected, the Canon 450D fits seamlessly with the EF-S lens series. These were designed particularly for the APS-C format of the image sensor, which gave way to more compact and cheaper lenses. Along with its compact housing, the EOS 450D is the perfect tool to use on occasions where usually tons of photos need to be taken.
Keeping abreast with the current trend, the Canon 450D has a brilliant 3-inch screen on its backside. While the 400D’s monitor only allowed you to look at images, the EOS 450D also lets you view and use the LCD screen for shooting as well. This is due to Canon’s latest offering – Live View.
This hardly comes as a surprise, though. All the latest Canon DSLR's are being equipped with this technology. Shooting pictures using the Live View feature undoubtedly has its rewards. And since many camera bugs are more likely to have shifted from compact cameras to the EOS 450D, Live View will surely give them a keen edge.
The resolution of the EOS 450D has once again been stepped up. The Canon EOS 450D boasts of a CMOS sensor with 12 Megapixels which is 2 megapixels more than what the EOS 400D has. Not a whole lot of difference maybe, but it does show that the camera keeps up with the high-end models of its competition. And it is safe to say that it is even way ahead of its biggest rival, the Nikon D60.
The Canon EOS 450D includes the EOS Integral Cleaning System. This system cleaner is not just a filter which vibrates to get rid of dust. The mirror housing within the unit is made of dust-repelling materials that make it unimaginable for dust to cling to. In addition, the sensor has an anti-static surface which means dust can’t cling to the sensor that easily.
Hundreds of thousands of new converts to digital equipment can’t go wrong the moment they shifted to the new Canon EOS 450D.
